Jeffrey Axelrod – A lifetime in motion
I’ve spent my life exploring movement—from discovering yoga at age 13 in New York City to dancing professionally with ODC/Dance in San Francisco and the Trisha Brown Company in New York, to continuing to move daily today.
Over the years, my exploration has included ballet, contemporary dance, ecstatic (improvisational) dance, several traditions of yoga, the Alexander Technique, road cycling, and strength training. I earned a yoga teaching certification in 2005, and have practiced the GYROTONIC® method for over ten years, completing the Level 1 Pre-training and Foundation courses in 2026. I also know what it means to begin again. My experience with injuries, physical therapy, and a changing body informs the patience and curiosity I bring to teaching.
